Installation & Updates

Download the latest version from the download page.

Move the downloaded application file to a place of your choise. No need to install it.

Install a modpack

1. Install Minecraft

You should install Minecraft with your favorite Minecraft launcher.

  1. Install Java if not already done
  2. Install your launcher, if not already done.
  3. Create a new Minecraft instance and install the mod loader required by your modpack, e.g. Forge.
  4. Start Minecraft once to initialize the folder structure.

2. Install the modpack

For installing a modpack you first need to open the Minecraft Modpack Updater.exe. Fill in the following inputs step by step.

  1. Choose your minecraft profile folder. It's name is likely .minecraft (but sometimes it's different, depent on the launcher).

    Tip

    For PrismLauncher...Right-click your Minecraft instance in PrismLauncher and click to `Folder`. It will open a new Windows Explorer windows and points you the instance folder. In this folder navigate into the `minecraft` folder. Then just click the address bar, select everything (Ctrl+A) and copy it (Ctrl+C). In the Minecraft Modpack Updater click into the minecraft profile folder textbox and paste (Ctrl+V).
  2. Paste your modpack configuration url. You will get this from your modpack creator.
  3. Choose the side you want to install for. Usually you want Client.
  4. Configure other modpack specific options. In this example for LITW Refined there is Server assets and Modern java.

    Note

    This options can variate for different modpacks. Every modpack can defined their own custom options. Take a look to the installation manual of your modpack for details.

After the last input the check for updates performs automatically. You already should be able to see, if you can install the modpack or not. However, you can perform a check also manually by clicking Check for updates. Now you can click Install, if an update is available. Wait and look how the percent grows to 100.

If the installation was successfully, you will see a green tick. You can now start Minecraft again and enjoy the modpack!

Update a modpack

The process is likely the same as for installing a modpack, but you don't need to fill all inputs yourself now.

  1. Open the Minecraft Modpack Updater.exe.
  2. If not already selected, choose your Minecraft profile folder. It automatically fills in the config url and installation key you used last time.
  3. Hit Check for updates if not done automatically.
  4. If an update is available, then click Install.

  5. Watch how the procent number grows to 100.

If the update was successfull, you will see a green tick.
